Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 cup beef consommé or broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  3. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

  4. Stir in the chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent.

  5. Pour in the French onion soup and beef consommé, mixing well.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked rice with the beef mixture.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  9. Remove the foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving.
